One of the pivotal rulers of the Empire, he mercilessly attempts to destroy the Rebel Alliance, which is waging a long and desperate war to free the galaxy from the Empire's evil clutches. Beginning with The Empire Strikes Back, Vader's leitmotif is composer John Williams' The Imperial March, which heralds the character's entrances in the mise en scène. Creation and Concept The character's image was created when concept artist Ralph McQuarrie drew the opening scene where Vader and his stormtroopers board a Rebel ship.[2] It was initially imagined that Darth Vader would fly through space to enter the ship, necessitating a suit and breathing mask.[2] This equipment was later made permanent and incorporated in the story.[2] The iconic sound of the character's respirator breathing was created by sound designer Ben Burtt, who created the sound by recording himself breathing into a scuba regulator.Darth Vader's costume is one of the areas in which Lucas' interest in feudal Japan -- in particular samurai warriors -- is most clearly manifested.[5] According to Star Wars wardrobe master John Mollo, "Darth Vader's helmet started as a World War I German helmet".[6]  -------------------may the force be with us

The Dark Lord's lightsaber, seperti senjatanya sebelumnya yang "diwariskan" ke anaknya,dibuat dari flash kamera antik.  Unit 3-cell ini adalah "MPP Microflash" buatan Micro Precision Products of England Flash diatas mempunyai fitur sisi berwarna hitam pada "kotak" yang terletak pada clampnya,yang merupakan variasi minor pada MPP Flash. Saber Vader pada episode IV mempunyai sisi berwarna chrome seperti pada gambar paling atas. Pada episode V berwarna hitam. Pada propnya,clampnya rusak,untuk mengatasinya(mengencangkan) para pembuat prop memakai paku besar berpermukaan rata(atau paku sejenis lainnya) menempati tempat pada clampnya dimana tiangnya seharusnya berada,lalu paku tsb dibengkokan untuk menahan clampnya dan clamp lever aslinya dilem sampai pinggirnya Plat nama "microflashnya" disingkirkan dari sisinya,plat ini dikuatkan oleh 2 rivet kecil kemungkinan bahwa ini dibor untuk mengeluarkannya. Sebuah ring berbentuk "D" dimasukan melalui lobang yang dibuat di "kepala" flash(dekat tempat keluarnya sinar lightsaber) tepat dibawah mur. Di tengah clamp(tempat beradanya "kotak") yang fungsi aslinya menempatkan flash ini pada kamera,diselipkan sebuah diode(light emitting diode) layar berbentuk bulat2 sejajar. Sangat sedikit kalkulator2 tua yang mempunyai diode untuk layar 7 bubblenya ini yang mendekati jenis yang ditempatkan pada prop ini,sejauh ini hanya ada 2 model kalkulator yang mempunyai model diode yang mendekati,yaitu Exactra 19 dan Exactra 20. Produk ini diperkenalkan oleh Texas Instruments pada 1974. Lensa ini adalah strip bening sepanjang 2 inci bertekstur bulat(memperbesar display pada kalkulator) yang berdampingan.  Untuk prop ini,strip yang normalnya mempunyai 7 "bubble" dipotong sepanjang(kira2) 1 1/2 inci,meninggalkan hanya 6 "bubble"Texas Instruments Exactra 20 interior detail Seperti saber Luke pada A New Hope,Lightsaber Darth Vader juga mempunyai "grip2" sepanjang 3 5/8 inci. Identitas aslinya masih belum diketahui,tapi diasumsikan sebagai "track" plastik berbentuk "T" berwarna hitam dari lemari/buffet vintage gelas dengan pintu geser Ada prop saber untuk Vader yang kedua,nyaris sama dengan versi diatas,tapi ada sedikit perbedaan. There was second Darth Vader lightsaber prop used in A New Hope. It's very similar to the version seen at top but with some subtle differences. MPP Microflash kedua mempunyai sidebars persegi hitam di tengah penjepit. Tuasnya dikencangkan setengah berbalik dan berada di sisi berlawanan dari penjepit . Versi ini juga memiliki clamp dibawah berlawanan dari bagian atas grip The first Darth Vader lightsaber (Boarding the Tantive IV)The second Darth Vader lightsaber (Princess Leia's Interrogation)
